UPS Delivers | Employer of the Month
The phrase “UPS delivers” took on a whole new meaning when the Employment Supervisor for the UPS Northern California District, Sheilah O’Mahony, came in for a hiring fair with MatchBridge last week.
Ms. O’Mahony engaged MatchBridge members through her compelling presentation on what it takes to be an employee at UPS. She emphasized the value of taking the initiative and having a strong sense of self-motivation, responsibility to your job and your team, and a strong work ethic- even if the job requires you to wake up at the crack of dawn! Ms. Mahoney presented her knowledge to twenty MatchBridge members who asked many questions and took part in interactive activities to illustrate their drive and motivation to succeed.
The MatchBridge/UPS job fair was the direct result of MatchBridge reaching out to UPS in an effort to create more holiday-seasonal job opportunities for MatchBridge job-seekers. Ms. O’Mahony was gracious in her willingness to share such valuable insights to members of MatchBridge. We look forward to many more great partnership with UPS to help provide opportunities for young San Francisco job seekers, and we are excited to assist UPS with their holiday hiring needs!
Since the job fair, two MatchBridge members have already started work with UPS. And stay tuned- UPS has several more candidates from MatchBridge, awaiting their interviews. This partnership is a shining example of how the private and non-profit sectors can align their goals both to contribute to the community and the bottom line.
